The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.

The Department of Quantum Technologies is looking for a PhD student (f/m/d) Diamond based quantum imaging.

Your tasks:
The objective is to experimentally test and optimize quantum-imaging protocols with the nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond for neurosurgery. As the basis for the preparation of the dissertation, the specific tasks include:

Carrying out literature research
Planning and execution of optically-detected magnetic resonance experiments with diamond
Analysis and modelling of the experimental data
Publication and presentation of scientific results

Your profile:
Master of Science in Physics, Engineering Physics or a related subject area obtained with above-average qualifications
Experience with magnetic resonance techniques
Very good experimental skills
Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment
Motivation to carry out research independently
Good language skills in English (written and spoken)
